Student Centred Learning
At Ramaiah Institute of Management Studies (RIMS), we follow a unique pedagogy that focuses on enhancing the experiential learning of every individual student. Apart from providing theoretical inputs to students, our faculty focuses on complementing theory with practical aspects by discussing case studies from the real world. This is further enhanced by class room discussions on the latest happenings in the industry. Students are encouraged to participate in such discussions, thereby broadening their knowledge. We also have flipped classroom sessions wherein the students learning and engagement are greatly enhanced.Â
RIMS has an ambitious Value Added Courses program and has tied up with reputed companies such as KPMG for Business Analytics and ITM for German Language to deliver certification courses. The Value Added Courses program is an attempt by RIMS to make our students corporate ready by equipping them with the required skills to take advantage of employment opportunities that require highly skilled manpower. This is complemented by having pre-placement training for our students in the areas of Group Discussions, Personal Interviews, Etiquettes, Aptitude Skills, Personal Grooming and Business Communications to prepare them for facing placement interviews with confidence.
Student learning is further enhanced by taking students to Industrial Visits where the students get to see management in action. Recently, our students were fortunate to visit the Volvo and TVS Motor factories and learn about the world class best practices in manufacturing and operations.
In order to further enhance the experiential learning of the students, RIMS has an internship program wherein our students work as interns for a period of 45-60 days at reputed companies and learn the nuances of management in a practical manner during their internship period. After completing their internship, the students submit a report that is evaluated by the faculty members and also have to face a Viva Voce.
The culmination of academic learning is by way of the students undertaking a research project in their area of specialisation. Students are guided by their faculty to identify a topic in their chosen area of specialisation and conduct a scientific research study to gain more insights into the topic.
